Charles Barefoot Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Brooks Funeral Home & Cremation Services, P.C.. - Watsontown on Oct. 15, 2025.

Publish in a newspaper

Charles "Ed" Edward Barefoot, Jr., 77, of Watsontown, returned home to his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, October 14, 2025 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
Born July 28, 1948 in Johnstown, he was the son of the late Charles Edward Barefoot, Sr. and Mary Lou (Seese) Mull. On June 23, 1968 he married the former Darla L. Deibler, and together they have celebrated 57 wonderful years of marriage.
Ed was a 1966 graduate of Chestnut Ridge High School, New Paris, PA. He proudly and honorably served his country in the US Navy, retiring at the rank of Chief Petty Officer after 20 years of dedicated service. Afterwards, he worked for Baltimore Life Insurance Company for over 30 years; where he held rank as one of the top salesmen in the company for decades running, earning he and Darla unforgettable opportunities to travel around the world.
Since the close of the Watsontown United Methodist Church, where he and his family were members for many years, he became a member of Holy Spirit Evangelical Lutheran Church.
Ed has always had a great love for fishing, and enjoyed many days on the boat teaching each of his children and grandchildren how to love it as well. Together he and Darla have cultivated a garden that they have proudly shared with all of their friends and family members each year. During his free time, Ed was known to enjoy Star Trek - and curated quite a collection of memorabilia, as well as card games with dear friends around the kitchen table.
Above all, Ed was a family man. He was always present and cheering-on his daughters and granddaughters at any sports event, concert, or any event they had. He cherished and treasured every minute with his family and friends.
In addition to his wife, Darla, of Watsontown, he is survived by two daughters, Traci Garza and her husband, Mark, and Mindy Jo Barefoot; three grandchildren, Devon Dennis and her husband, Bradley, Madison Ritter, Payton Ritter and her husband, Cass Martin; one great-grandson, Oliver Dennis; a step-brother, Michael Barefoot; a mother-in-law, Miriam Deibler; a brother-in-law: Rick Deibler and his wife Patricia; as well as nieces, nephews, and many cherished friends.
Family and friends are invited to a visitation from 10:00 to 11:00AM on Saturday, October 25, 2025 at Brooks Funeral Home and Cremation Svc, PC, 124 Main Street, Watsontown where a memorial service will begin at 11:00AM with his pastor, Rev. Donald L. Snyder, officiating. Full military honors will be accorded in Watsontown Cemetery, following the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Ed's name to the Holy Spirit Evangelical Lutheran Church, at P.O. Box 6, Turbotville, PA 17772, would be greatly appreciated.
