Charles “Charlie” Roy Fitch, Jr., 84 of Wilson passed away Friday, April 19, 2024. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, April 22, 2024, at Joyner’s Funeral Home, Wilson. Interment will follow in Maplewood Cemetery, Wilson. Chaplain Derek Bossolono will officiate.
The family will receive friends Sunday evening, April 21, 2024, from 6 – 8 p.m. at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson and other times at the home.
Charlie was a retired fixed assets officer with the City of Wilson. He was an avid golfer and loved antique cars, especially a 1933 Chevrolet. Charlie was a former Secretary and Treasurer of The Wilson Breakfast Optimist Club and Wilson Bowling League for twenty-five years. Charlie was a friend to all who knew him and he will be greatly missed.
Charlie is survived by his loving wife of sixty years, Betty Jean Bickley Fitch of the home; daughter, Betsy Garner of Wilson; granddaughters, Amber Wood and husband, Spensir of Rustburg, Virigina and Morgan Garner of Clayton and fiancé, Garrett of Spring Hope; his sisters, Barbara Bourne of Richmond, Virginia and Frances Lumadue of Midlothian, Virginia and his special princess, Ellie Mae.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Roy Fitch, Sr. and Lilton Major Fitch.
