Charles Alfred Driggers, Sr., was a man of substance, honor, and unwavering dedication. He was born on August 21, 1947, in Sarasota, Florida, to Everett Wilson and Lois Virginia Creech Driggers. Charles was a traveler at heart, residing in Florida, Texas, Colorado, Thailand, Turkey, Guam, Idaho, Wyoming, Utah, California, and Arizona. His life was a testament to his resilience, adaptability, and adventurous spirit. Charles was a cherished husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend, whose life was characterized by his service to both his country and his family.
He attended Venice Elementary, Venice Middle School, and graduated from Venice High School.
Charles' professional journey as a truck driver was more than just a career-it was his passion. His robust career spanned across various states and countries, reflecting his love for open roads and new horizons. Charles enlisted in the US Air Force in May of 1966, and his commendable service to his country was recognized with an honorable discharge as an E-5 Staff Sergeant in December of 1972. Despite his extensive travels and remarkable professional journey, Charles always found the greatest joy in the simple pleasures of life. He loved spending time with his family, especially the babies and his dogs. He enjoyed reading William Johnston's ebooks and cherished the tranquility of nature while camping and fishing.
On December 6, 1968, Charles married the love of his life, Wendy Irene Howe, in
Ogden, Utah. Together, they welcomed four beautiful children into the world: Stacey Driggers Gomez (deceased), Shannon Phillips, Charles Alfred Driggers, Jr. (Mindy), and Brandee Noelle Driggers (deceased). Their love story was an enchanting journey of 56 blissful years filled with shared dreams, laughter, and an unbreakable bond.
Charles is survived by his beloved wife Wendy; his children: Shannon and Charles Jr.; daughter-in-law: Mindy Wilkes; sons-in-law: Victor Gomez and Cory Mangle, and David Hunsaker; brother: William (BJ) Driggers; brother-in-law, Tom Fox 23 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his daughters: Stacey and Brandee, his son-in-laws Eric Aaro and Brad Curry, as well as his parents Everett and Lois Driggers; and parents-in-law: Henry Howe, Dean and Beverly Fife; sister: Jean Fox; brother: Edward Driggers.
Charles' life was a rich tapestry of love, service, and dedication, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His memory will continue to inspire and guide us, as we remember his unique spirit and cherish the moments he shared with us.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, April 4, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Myers Mortuary, 205 South 100 East,
Brigham City, Utah. Viewings will be held the night before on Thursday, April 3, 2025, from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m., and prior to the service from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary.
