Charles "Roy" Hall, 85, of Greenville, beloved husband of Annalee Hall, passed away on Monday, August 14, 2023, after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer's disease.
Born in
Marion, NC, he was the son of the late Charles and Vergie Hall.
He was a man of many accomplishments and a testament to the power of determination and hard work. Roy was a shining example of a life well-lived, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and service.
During Roy's high school years, he lettered in four sports and attained Eagle Scout status in the Boy Scouts.
A trailblazer in his family, Roy was the first to graduate from college, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in textiles from NC State while also being a track and field athlete. After college, he spent his entire career working at JP Stevens until he retired from the Dunean plant.
Roy was a dedicated member of the Masonic fraternity for over 50 years, embodying its principles of brotherhood, charity, and integrity. As a proud member of the Scottish Rite, Roy had a commitment that reflected his deep-rooted values and his dedication to the principles of faith and fellowship.
For many years, Roy was a cherished member of the Berea Heights Baptist Church, where he found solace, community, and spiritual growth. His unwavering faith and involvement were a source of strength to those around him.
Married to the love of his life, Annalee, for almost six decades, their journey together was a testament to the strength of their bond and the beauty of a lifelong partnership.
Above all, Roy was a loving and devoted family man, making his family his top priority.
He was a hands-on father and grandfather who never missed the academic, sporting, and life events of his daughters and grandchildren. He served as the primary caregiver for many months during his very young grandson, David's battle with leukemia so his parents could work.
His legacy will forever live on in the hearts and memories of his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. His life was a shining example of a life well-lived, defined by love, integrity, and selflessness. His life was a shining example of a life well-lived, defined by love, integrity, and selflessness.
In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by daughters, Natalie Ellen Vest (Gary) and Pamela Susan Wilkerson (David); and a granddaughter, Natalie Alicia Vest.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, David Paul Wilkerson III.
A visitation will be held Sunday, August 20, 2023, from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Homes, Northwest. A funeral service will be held Monday, August 21, 2023, at 12:00 p.m. in Graceland East Memorial Park Mausoleum.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to all the caregivers who provided Roy with compassionate care and support throughout his battle with Alzheimer's disease.
