Charles was born on January 31, 1936, at University Hospital in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Charles Willard and Mary Edith (Richmond) Joray.
He studied at Harding Jr. High School and then at Northeast High School. He graduated with a bachelor's degree from Central State University in Edmond, Oklahoma. Charles enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1958, serving as both a Sharpshooter and a Hydraulic Specialist assigned to the U2 Spy Plane. The Air Force relied on Charles to travel internationally as required to perform maintenance and technical support for this aircraft.
After 33 years working at OG&E as a lineman and distribution operator, he retired from the company. Following his retirement, he and his wife Joan founded Joray's Wholesale, a jewelry business that took them across the Midwest where they sold jewelry, precious stones, and gems. He also had a deep passion for meteorites.
Charles is survived by his wife, Joan Joray; two sons, Michael Shane Joray and Charles Patrick Joray; his brother, John Vincent Joray; and his daughter-in-law, Leslie Sterlling.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Ronald Gene Joray, and his granddaughter, Tuesday Savannah Joray.
Charles will be greatly missed by his friends and loved ones.
