Charles Henry Witte, 73, of Wall Township, passed away on August 30, 2024, at Jersey Shore Medical Center, Neptune, NJ. Born in Newark, NJ, Charles was a resident of the Jersey Shore region for more than 60 years, first in Belmar where he graduated from Manasquan High School, '68, before settling in Wall Township with his wife Shirley (nee Heulitt) after graduating from Newark College of Engineering, '72, now known as NJIT. While raising their family in Wall, Charles worked as a civil engineer at several firms including Charles J. Kupper Inc., DW Smith, and most recently at H2M. A lifelong sports fan, Charles enjoyed watching and rooting for the Mets, Jets, and Rams as well as coaching and supporting his children and grandchildren in their sports and activities. He was also a model train and Civil War history enthusiast.
Charles was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Elizabeth Witte, his in-laws, Leon and Doris Heulitt, and his sister Marion. He is survived by his wife of nearly 48 years, Shirley Witte, and his children, Stephanie Nietupski and her husband, Richard, Charles Witte Jr. and his wife Colleen, Christopher Witte and his wife Thuan, and Scott Witte and his fiancée, Brenna. He is also survived by his brother Douglas Witte and 8 grandchildren: Danielle, Ashley, Lucas, Millicent, Madeleine, Hailey, Gavin, and Alexander; as well as his three sisters-in-law, four brothers-in-law, and many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Thursday, September 5, 2024, from 4pm to 8pm at Orender Family Home for Funerals, 2643 Old Bridge Road, Manasquan, NJ 08736. A service for Charles will be held on Friday, September 6, 2024, at 11am, also at Orender Family Home for Funerals. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Charles' name to the American Kidney Fund at: https://give.kidneyfund.org/page/71513/donate/1.
