Christine Ann Szafran (Gellner), a loving daughter, sister, and someone who never met a stranger, passed away on November 2, 2023, in Wheeling, West Virginia. She was born on February 9, 1965, in Wheeling, West Virginia, making her 58 years old at the time that she courageously fought against cancer. Christine lived and resided in Moundsville, West Virginia.
Raised in Moundsville, Christine had an unwavering love for her community and its people. Her work experience as a dedicated caretaker at Young's Care Home showcased her compassionate nature, though all of her professions in life were led by her caring heart. Christine's kindness and selflessness to help others touched the lives of countless individuals throughout the years.
Beyond her work, Christine had two great passions in life: the ocean and all kinds of music, though she held a special place in her heart for Janis Joplin. Her love for the vast expanse of the sea represented her desire for freedom, while soulful melodies spoke to her own inner strength and resilience. These interests spoke to Christine's spirit, depicting her as a remarkable and inspiring individual.
Christine will be deeply missed by her adoring parents, Francis and Jo Ann Szafran, and her loving brother Jeff Szafran. Her life partner, Wayne Olnick, will have her loving memories now to hold. Christine's niece, Johnna (Zach) Stevey, and nephew Francis (Dawn Killen) Szafran. Her memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
A Memorial Service to honor and celebrate Christine's life will be held on Thursday, November 9th. The service will take place from 3:00pm until 7:00pm, with Pastor Mark Harris officiating the ceremony at 7:00pm. This will be an opportunity for family, friends, and the community to gather together and pay tribute to a woman who left an indelible mark on their lives.
In this time of mourning, let us remember Christine as an inspiration, embodying the virtues of compassion and selflessness. May her memory guide us to extend love and care to one another, just as she did throughout her life.
