Christopher Travis Cabe

Christopher Travis Cabe 1983-2021 Dallas- Travis Cabe, 38 passed away suddenly on July 12, 2021 in Asheville, North Carolina. He was born in Gaston County on March 25, 1983 to the late Gregory Chris Cabe and Sharon Wilson; and his loving grandmother, Marlene Cabe. Travis was a graduate of South Point High School. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Air Force, where he served as a mechanic. Travis was a wonderful young man and will be greatly missed by those who loved him. Left to cherish his memories is his aunt and uncle, Terry and Luke Hamilton, who he lived with and cared for him most of his life; uncles and aunts, Lee and Debby Cabe, Larry and Wanda Cabe; several cousins, who loved him; his half sisters, Rebecca Wilson and Danielle Stallings; and his nieces and nephews. Each of our days are numbered for we live by the grace of God. Sometimes those days know an easier path while for others more challenges encumber the way. Yet regardless the journey traveled, none of us are lesser in keep. For the depth of one's soul is neither measured by appearance nor the wear or make of one's clothes. Neither is it defined by one's beginnings for each of us enters the world with a heritage already in place. To the little boy that he was to the young man that he became, we remember Travis for the goodness of his heart, the gentle nature of his soul and the generosity of his spirit. He was a kind and loving individual who cared about others and who often gave to those who were less fortunate or homeless. Travis loved animals, especially dogs, but German Shepherds in particular. He lost his own beloved German Shepherd, Gambit, a few years back. He rarely passed by a giving jar for companion animals and made donations whenever possible. Travis had also worked with the VA helping to train service dogs, as he was a veteran himself having served in the Air Force. Travis loved the outdoors and he found great pleasure and a sense of contentment when being outside. He enjoyed fishing and the peace and quiet that accompanied being on the water. Travis was a deeply spiritual individual and he found his best self when in the company of the natural world. Nature gifted him peace and comfort, providing him a sense of order to a sometimes chaotic world. None of us travel through life on our own. We do so with the help of family and friends, teachers and mentors and guiding hands along the way. Travis knew well those who loved him and we are truly thankful we had the opportunity to know him and to have him a part of our lives. His absence should remind us of the brevity of life. It is time that should be cherished and appreciated for 38 years is time too short to equal a whole lifetime. Travis may your soul rest in peace. Know that those who loved you did so wholeheartedly and while there are memories to tend your keep, your presence will always be missed.
