Robert “Christopher” Merkle, age 21, of Newberry, SC, passed away on Wednesday, August 13, 2025.
Born February 27, 2004, in Columbia, SC, he was the son of Christina and Joseph Derrick.
Christopher attended Mid Carolina High School and was actively pursuing further education. This beautiful man was a loving son, sibling, and fiancé. Always willing to help others, he was loved by everyone involved in his life.
Always a curious man, he enjoyed new experiences with his fiancé, Kendall Nuttall, and friends. Whether outdoors or in, Christopher was a bright light to all in his circle of family and friends. He will be remembered for his ability to turn any situation into a positive experience for all involved, his quiet and meek spirit, his sense of humor, his giving nature, and so much more.
In addition to his parents, Christopher is survived by his siblings Asa and Lei Derrick, his God-Sister Breanne Morton, his grandparents Pamela Winks and Martha Derrick, his great-grandmother, Norma Nichols, his fiancé Kendall Nuttall, a multitude of aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family, and future in-laws Jess and Keith Nuttall, along with Hunter and Callie Nuttall.
Christopher’s celebration of life will be determined and announced at a future date.
