Christopher Martin Porter was born November 9th, 1990 at Holy Cross Hospital in Silver Spring, Maryland. He was the youngest child of Leon Sr. and Brenda Porter.
Christopher was educated until grade 3 in East Orange Public schools and finished his elementary and high school education in South Orange/Maplewood school district. Chris graduated Columbia High School in 2008. He went on to further his education at Hudson County Community College. He graduated Magna Cum Laude in 2019 with a degree in culinary arts.
Christopher started his religious journey at Mt. Olive Baptist Church in East Orange, NJ and later joined New Hope Baptist Church in Newark, NJ where he was baptized. He a was very active member of the youth ministries at New Hope.
During his adult life, Chris had a fulfilling career in the culinary arts. He served in roles as sous chef, restaurant manager and department head chef. He has done many private catering events and most recently a residency in the Hamptons at Duryea's Orient Point in Orient, New York. He has had two honors society nominations and has also been named employee of the month four times.
Christopher was a people person and loved to celebrate and help others. He was a friend and mentor. If you were in Chris' presence he has the ability to make you feel special and acknowledged. Chris was known to have a smile that would light up a room. He had a life long love for sports, both playing and watching. He loved to swim and dive. Chris played baseball, football, basketball, softball and golf competitively throughout his life. He was most passionate about the Philadelphia Eagles, Duke Blue Devils and of course the New York Yankees. Amongst his many nicknames were CP and Porter.
August 11th, 2024 at the age of 33, Christopher Martin Porter was peacefully called home by his heavenly father. Chris is predeceased by his Grandfathers Willie Melvin Wright and Fred X. Porter, his grandmother Dorothy Porter Carr, nephew Kobe Emil Foged Porter and Uncles Melvin S. Wright and William W. Wright. Chris leaves a wonderful legacy for all he knew. He leaves to always cherish his memory, his parents Leon and Brenda Porter. His brothers, Leon Jr. (Iben) and Brendan (Jenna). His nieces and nephews, Riley Lynn, Selah Grace, Quinn Maxine, Johan Willie, and Xavier James. He also leaves his grandmother Sophie M. Wright, along with his aunts and uncles, Glenn T. Wright (Denise), Fred E. Porter (Karen), Yvonne F. Wright, Zelda M. Wright, Caroleen E. Moore, Angela A. Canada (Adam) and his godmother Morgan Smith (Michael) and a large host of family and friends.
