Christopher George Riggs of Heltonville, IN, passed away peacefully in his sleep on October 5, 2025. He was born on December 25, 1954 in Hinsdale, IL to Earl Warren Riggs and Leona "Lee" Riggs. He was the fourth son of five brothers. The Riggs brothers grew up near Lake Monroe and spent their childhood days boating, fishing, and working on family construction projects at the Riggs "family farm." Chris graduated from Bloomington High School South in 1973 and earned an Associate's Degree from Ivy Tech. He worked at AeroFab Corporation from 1980 to 2020, when he retired. He was known as a jokester by his co-workers and was proud of the aerospace projects that he constructed over the years. On October 12, 1980, Chris married Joyce Lee Vogel and they raised three children together in Heltonville, IN. Chris provided his children a wonderful childhood, filled with vacations, nature-filled adventures, and unconditional love and support. Chris was a "busy-body" and a "jack-of-all-trades." He always had a project that he was working on, even after retiring in 2020. He could install, repair, or construct just about anything. He was often sharing his handy-man skill-set with others; helping with a repair or some other kind of construction project. If Chris met you on the street, you surely wouldn't be a stranger for long...and if you were lucky, you may even get to hear one of his infamous "dad" jokes. He was truly on-of-a-kind, and will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Chris is survived by his wife, Joyce Riggs; his children: Emily Tumey (Jeremy), Michelle Alas, and Nick Riggs (Bree); four brothers: Glenn Riggs (Sally), Peter Riggs (Julie), Paul Riggs (Betty), and Daniel Riggs (Michelle); and nine grandchildren. Memorial service for Christopher George Riggs will be held on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at 1:00 p.m., at Allen Funeral Home in Bloomington, IN. Interment will follow at Hanson Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service, from 11:00 a.m., to 1:00 p.m.
