Clair J. Monschein

Clair J. Monschein, age 81, of Erie, passed away peacefully at home, on Saturday, January 4, 2025, surrounded by his family. He was born in Tarentum, Pa, on May 21, 1943, a son of the late Jacob H. and Marion T. Kutsch Monschein.

Clair graduated from Tech Memorial High School in 1963. He was the owner/operator of Ideal Electric for 33 years and previously worked for IBEW Local #56 for 17 years for various local contractors. Clair was a member of the Siebenbuerger Club and a proud founding, charter, and honorary member of the Commodore Perry Yacht Club, where he served as Commodore in 1997 and 2003. He served on many committees at the club and helped build from the ground up. Clair was an avid boater, traveling the Great Lakes, and enjoyed RV traveling to 41 states. Clair and Judie served on many committees throughout their life. He loved his dogs, especially Peppy and his Big Red truck.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded by his grandson, Andrew Monschein.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Judie Peskorski Monschein; his children, Lisa Monschein, Mark Monschein (Elizabeth), and Debbie Monschein (fianc� Mark), all of Erie; his two grandchildren, Keith Golembiewski, and Mary Schumacher (Scott); his great-granddaughter, Sophia Schumacher; his sister, Karen Zimmerman-Keller, (Larry); his two brothers, Alan Monschein (Sharon), and Gary Monschein; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family would like to thank Encompass Rehab Health, Dr. Kaitlyn Blackburn, and the nurses who took care of Clair Bear.

Friends are invited to the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home, Inc., 5000 Wattsburg Rd. Erie, PA, 16504, on Friday, January 17th from 4 p.m. until time of memorial service at 7 p.m. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the family in c/o funeral home.
