Clark Easterly Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Barter & Donnan Funeral Home on Oct. 3, 2023.
Clark Easterly Jr., beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 30, 2023 at the age of 71 in Saratoga Springs, NY.
Born on January 21, 1952 in Gloversville, NY, he was the son of the late Clark and Virginia (Briggs) Easterly.
Clark graduated from Johnstown High School in 1970 and from Babson College in 1974. He served as Vice President of the Johnstown Knitting Mill for many years, followed by a shorter career with Coldwell Banker/Arlene M. Sitterly until his retirement in 2017. Clark was a member of the St. John's Episcopal Church and served on its Vestry. Clark was a long-time member of the Wells House Nursing Home Board of Directors. He was also a member of the Royal Mountain Ski Club and the Burroughs Nature Study Club. He was a ski coach for the Royal Mountain Ski Team for several years, coaching his own children and many others.
Whether you knew him as Clark, Rusty, Dad, Grandpa, Poppy, Uncle Rusty, or Mr. Easterly, we will all remember his humor, his contagious energy, and his love for his family. Your fondest memories might include him skiing at Royal Mountain, arriving at a party with his famous clam chowder and wings, roaming around Third Avenue as a child, or sitting on the front porch of his family's camp on his favorite lake in the Adirondacks. He looked forward to his annual ski trips to Europe with his wife and many friends. By far, his proudest role was being Grandpa/Poppy Rusty and passing along his strongest attribute of loving and supporting his family, which he learned from his own parents. He was always happy to simply provide his grandchildren with an ice cream sandwich, cheese omelet, or pancakes on a moment's notice.
On June 17, 1972, Clark married the love of his life, Jeanne (Stroud) Easterly, who survives.
Clark is also survived by his daughters, Megan Sandel (Christian) and their children Jill, Samantha, and Tanner, Susannah Easterly (Ali Shaw), Emily Slingerland (Tucker) and their children Forrest and Sylvia; son, Dane Easterly; brothers, Thomas Easterly (Sally), William Easterly (Terri); sisters, Joan Ireland (Robert), Dorothy Krempa (Martin); as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, October 6, 2023, at 2:00 PM at the St. John's Episcopal Church, 1 N Market St., Johnstown, NY 12095.
Visitation for family and friends will be held prior to the service at the church from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM.
Private interment will be at Johnstown Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Clark's memory may be made to the Johnstown Public Library, 38 S Market St, Johnstown, NY 12095, or to St. John's Episcopal Church, 1 N Market St., Johnstown, NY 12095.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Barter & Donnan Funeral Home, Inc., 1 N. Melcher Street, Johnstown, NY.

Rusty was always kind to me. In all the years I knew him, I never saw him do or say a mean thing to me or anyone else. A special memory is going fishing with Rusty at Livingston Lake. We had to wear musty, huge life jackets that we joked about the whole time. I think we each caught a minuscule bass.
