Jennifer E. Bushey, age 49, a courageous, intelligent, and loving woman, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 4, 2023, NY, at the St. Johnsville Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Inc.
Born on April 10, 1974, in Gloversville, NY, she was the daughter of David and Judith (Denno) Sponenberg, who survive.
Jennifer was a devoted wife, mother, sister, and friend. She married the love of her life, Michael R. Bushey on August 18, 2007, who survives her. Together, they raised their beautiful daughter, Chloe Bushey, who was the apple of Jennifer's eye. Jennifer also leaves behind her brothers, David and Barney Sponenberg, and her sister, Becky Bogardus, and many nieces and nephews who will forever cherish her memory.
She was a 1992 Fonda High School Graduate. A proud alumna of SUNY Cortland, Jennifer received her bachelor's degree in education. She dedicated nine years of her life to shaping young minds as a substitute teacher for HFM Boces. Her passion for education was evident in her teaching style, and she was admired by both her colleagues and students for her dedication and commitment.
Jennifer was a woman of many talents and interests. She was a decorated track and field athlete, with numerous medals and trophies to her name. Her competitive spirit and determination were not only evident on the track but also in her fight against cancer. Jennifer was an active participant in Relay for Life, raising funds and awareness for cancer research. She was also a speaker at Cancer Survivors Day at Albany Med, where she inspired many with her story of resilience and hope.
Jennifer's courage was unparalleled. Despite her own battle with cancer, she always put others first, offering support and encouragement to fellow cancer patients and survivors. Her intelligence shone through in her ability to articulate her experiences and provide insight into the challenges faced by those battling cancer. Above all, Jennifer was a loving individual, always ready with a kind word or a comforting hug.
Jennifer E. Bushey will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her. Her legacy of courage, intelligence, and love will continue to inspire and guide those left behind.
A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, August 10, 2023, at 7:00 PM at the Barter & Donnan Funeral Home, 1 N. Melcher Street, Johnstown, NY, with Rev. Dr. R.W. Williams officiating.
