Claude Ray "Tooter" Johnson passed from this life December 9, 2023, at his home in Sherman.
He was born in Slaton, Texas, on January 3, 1954, the son of Claude Sidney Johnson and Ada Mae (Wilcox) Johnson. He was a graduate of Sherman High School. He was known as Tooter to his friends and family.
On September 5, 1975, he married Janet Lee Ham in Howe, TX. They had been married for 48 years.
Claude was a machinist for Magna-Fab in Howe for many years. His favorite hobby was working on cars. He raced stock cars for many years at Grayson County Speedway. In his past he might have been known to drink a few beers and play dominos in his spare time.
He was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. He will be missed by all who loved him.
Claude was preceded in death by his father, his mother, a brother; Ray Johnson, sisters; Janice Rigsbay, Sharon McDowell, grandsons; Jordan Johnson and Sidney Johnson.
He is survived by his wife; Janet Lee Johnson, son; Anthony Johnson, daughter; Becky Johnson, grandchildren; Rosa Jaresh, Alyssa Jaresh, Andrew Johnson, all of Sherman, Kynzlee Johnson, Ryker Johnson, both of Gunter, and Bradley Wilson of Anna. Also surviving are a brother; John Johnson of Sherman, and a sister Wanda Hoover of Whitemound, TX.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, Thursday, December 14th, at Waldo Funeral Home in Sherman. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 PM, Friday, December 15th, at Whitemound Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of Waldo Funeral Home in Sherman.
