Claudie Clay Wheeler, Sr., age 90, passed away December 7, 2023 in Hendersonville, Tennessee. He was born on May 28, 1933 in Gainesboro, Tennessee to the late Lillian and Joe Wheeler. Claudie is also preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Wheeler; and siblings, Harlan, Tina, Jim, Jackie, and David.
Claudie is survived by children, Vicki Joe Harmon and Claudie C. Wheeler, Jr.; grandchildren, Shawn (Michelle), Nicole, Mindee, Klawdy III (Iffy), and Erin; great-grandchildren, Sarah Savannah, Dylan, Riley, Jake, Trevor, Kaya, and Rebel; siblings, Ann and Alfred; and many nieces and nephews.
Claudie had a deep passion for aviation. He received his education at an aviation school and went on to become an accomplished pilot. He was not only skilled in piloting planes for pleasure but also for private charters. Claudie was a Christian man who enjoyed attending church services with Virginia. He had a love for the water which included fishing, boating, and watching the sunrise. Claudie enjoyed singing and dancing, even traveling throughout the country square dancing with his wife.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 13, 2023 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Hendersonville Funeral Home. A Graveside Service will take place following visitation in Hendersonville Memory Gardens.
