Clesma Don Courvell

Clesma Don Courvell passed away at his home in Youngsville, Louisiana on June 9, 2025, after a nearly two year long battle with lung cancer. He was 61 years old. To honor his wishes, he will be cremated and there will be no service.

Clesma was born in North Carolina but spent most of his life in South Louisiana, where he graduated from Acadiana High School. He had fond childhood memories and a crooked nose from riding his horse, Prince. He held a deep appreciation for those who devoted their lives to public service, especially firefighters and the military. He was proud of his time spent as a volunteer firefighter for the Judice Fire Department, and devoted his career to fire and safety, fulfilling a variety of roles, including as a fire technician, shop manager, and safety instructor.

He loved camping, and sitting around a campfire with a cold Budweiser, listening to Classic Country Saturday Night was as close as he could get to a perfect evening. He absolutely adored his dogs Oscar and Layla, and cherished the moments he had with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. When his daughters were younger, he loved taking family vacations to Destin and San Antonio, where he enjoyed the water parks, swimming, and intentionally embarrassing his daughters. He loved to tell inappropriate jokes and was a pro at embellishing a story. Picking at the people he cared about was his love language, and he loved to make people laugh.

He is survived by his wife, Linda; two daughters, Heather Courvell Brown (Johnathon) and Chelsea Courvell; a step-daughter, Leslie Bourque; a step-son, Shannon Bourque (Lolita Palmer); one grandson, Jaxon Wager; one granddaughter June Brown, four step-grandsons, John Brown, Asher Bourque, Tyler Segura and Starr Waller; one step-granddaughter, Brittany Melancon (Jake); eight step-great-grandchildren, Amera Segura, Amyla Segura, Declan Segura, Creed Segura, Malaya Melancon, Madison Melancon, Meladi Melancon, and Maverick Melancon; and his cherished dogs, Oscar and Layla.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Louise Cormier Courvell and Rilton Courvell, and his brothers Roger Dale Credeur and Ray Courvell.
