Clifford Ray “Cliff” Clayton passed away November 4, 2023, in Indianapolis, Indiana. He was born on June 29, 1942, in Clayton, Indiana. Throughout his life, Cliff was a dedicated and hard-working individual who left a lasting impact on those around him.
Cliff had an impressive career as a Collison Repairman for Crossroads Lincoln Mercury and worked as a Boat Mechanic and Salesman for Interstate Marine Co. His commitment to his profession was unparallel, and he took great pride in providing excellent service to his customers. Cliff’s expertise and attention to detail were recognized in his field.
Beyond his career achievements, Cliff had a rich and fulfilling personal life. He had a deep passion for various hobbies and interest that brought him immense joy. Cliff enjoyed spending time at the Moose Lodge and the American Legion Post, where he formed lasting friendships with fellow members. In his younger days, he dedicated his life to coaching young people, positively impacting their lives through mentorship and guidance.
Nature held a special place in Cliff’s heart. He loved fishing and hunting for deer in the serene outdoors. Additionally, he found solace in Gospel Music singing and would often showcase his talents through Karaoke performances.
Cliff was a spiritual individual and was a longtime, faithful member of the Garfield Christian Church. During his time at the church, he served in many capacities including an Elder, and Youth Group Leader. He has most recently been worshipping at the Gospel of Deliverance Church.
Cliff was a family-oriented man who cherished his loved ones. He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles, and Ida Mae (Eaglin) Clayton, wife Margaret Clayton, son Stephen Clayton, and 10 siblings who have also passed away. Their memories will forever live on within the hearts of those who knew them.
He is survived by his beloved daughter, Kay (John) Kinney, grandchildren, Mike Clayton, Ashley (Chad) Karmada, Blake Clayton, Brad (Anna) Murphy, Nic (Tori) Clayton, numerous great grandchildren, and his partner, Linda Ricker, whose lives were all brightened by his loving spirit.
Visitation will take place on Monday, November 13, 2023, at Flanner Buchanan Decatur Township from 5:00pm until 9:00pm. The Funeral Service will be held at the same location on Tuesday, November 14, 2023, at 11:00am. Entombment will take place at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood, Indiana.
Cliff will be missed, and his legacy will resonate with all who knew him.
