Clyde was born on February 21, 1962, in Grundy, VA, the son of the late William Clyde Griffey and Opal Bernice Slone Griffey. He was a coal miner, carpenter, and handyman. He will be missed by all his loving family and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Rebecca Jane Griffey.

Also surviving are a host of family and friends.
Graveside services for Clyde Earl Griffey will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Thursday, April 10, 2025 at the Knollkreg Memorial Park in Abingdon, VA. Interment will follow. Pallbearers will be Kameron Griffey, William Griffey, Chandler Griffey, Chad Griffey, Nathan Laney, and Adam A.J. Clifton. Those wishing to attend the committal are asked to line up at the funeral home at 12:00 PM on Thursday. Hurst-Scott Funeral Home in Richlands is in charge of arrangements, and those wishing to express sympathy online may do so at www.hurstscottfuneralhomes.com
