Clyde William Stanley, called Pete by all, of Yardley, Pennsylvania, passed away suddenly on
March 25, 2024, at the age of 77.
Pete was the eldest son of Clyde Earl Stanley and Elizabeth (Foster) Stanley, both deceased. Pete is survived by his two loving siblings: his brother, Jeff Stanley (and wife Patti McAskin) and their daughter, Katie Stanley; and his sister, Anne Stanley and her four children, JP Gunn (and his wife Rachel and son John), Elizabeth Gunn Hendren (her husband John and daughter Finley), William Gunn (and fiancée Emily), and Robert Gunn.
Raised in Philadelphia, Pete graduated from Villanova University as a civil engineer. He was a long-time gas safety engineer for the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission, retiring in 2007. Family and friends will remember him for his kindness, his love of reading, in particular history, his enthusiasm for railroads, and his delight in trivia.
The Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, April 9, 2024, at 10:30 am at St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church 752 Big Oak Road Morrisville, PA 19067. Internment will be in the Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Cheltenham, PA at 12:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation may be made in Pete's name to Villanova University, the American Diabetes Association, or to a charity of your choice.
Arrangements are under the care of the FitzGerald-Sommer Funeral Home 17 S. Delaware Avenue Yardley, PA 19067. Condolences for the family can be left at www.fitzgeraldsommerfuneralhome.com.
