Coila Jane Sieber, age 100, of Baltimore, passed away peacefully at Lorien Mays Chapel in Timonium, MD on October 2, 2024
She was born in the Town of Greenbush at the family farm on September 24, 1924, a daughter of the late Julius and Esther (Polar) Sieber. Coila graduated from Plymouth High School in 1942.
Following high school, she graduated from the following schools: Garrett Biblical Institute, Morning Side College in 1946, Ohio State University School of Social Work in 1962, and the University of Maryland Graduate School in 1966.
She was a medical secretary in research at various hospitals in Baltimore and private physicians. She served on the Board of Lady Mangers of the GBMC Eye, Ear and Throat Clinic.
Coila was an active member in her church, First and Franklin Presbyterian Church, Baltimore. She was an ordained elder and an ordained deacon, served on a Pastor Nominating Committee, was an officer in the Presbyterian Women's Association at the local, presbytery, and synod levels. Coila was the last surviving member of Franklin Street Presbyterian Church from before the merger in the 1970s.
She enjoyed going to the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, and was a charter member of National Aquarium in Baltimore. She enjoyed going to Art Galleries.
In later years she enjoyed traveling with her sisters to various states, and was also able to travel to Canada.
She talked daily with her sister Audrey up until the day before her passing.
Survivors include: A sister Audrey and John Stormoen of Arkdale, WI, and close friends Jim and Betty Schroll of Baltimore, MD and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Coila was preceded in death by: Her parents. Brothers: Harold (Irene), Donald (Helen), Frederick, Richard (Sophie), Robert (Nelda). Sisters: Erma (Burton) Thackray, Margaret (Ellis) Buzan, Dorothy (LaVerne) DeMunck, Barbara (Carl) Bartz.
Graveside service will be held on Friday, October 11, 2024, at 12:00 Noon at Greenbush Cemetery, Greenbush, WI.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested in Coila's name to First and Franklin Presbyterian Church (www.firstfranklin.org) or Presbyterian Disaster Assistance Progam (www.pda.pcusa.org).
The family would like to send special thanks to: Jim & Betty Schroll for being such good friends to Coila and taking excellent care of her for many years. Thank you for the care at Lorien Mays Chapel facility.
