Orrville - Connie V. Prough, age 85, of Orrville, passed away Thursday, December 18, 2025, at Ohio's Hospice LifeCare in Wooster, following a period of declining health.
Connie was born April 6, 1940, in Orrville, Ohio, to the late Stanley and Mary (Handwerk) Ziegler. She was a graduate of Orrville High School and married E. E. Rick Prough on December 8, 1995, in Apple Creek, Ohio and they just celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary this year. Rick survives.
Throughout her life, Connie worked in several roles, but devoted much of her time to caring for her home and family as a homemaker. She was a member of the Orrville Women's Club and enjoyed many interests. In her younger years, she participated as a majorette during high school. Connie was known as a wonderful cook and took great joy in preparing meals for her loved ones. She dearly loved her children and grandchildren and had a special affection for animals, especially her beloved Chihuahuas, with Sheba holding a very special place in her heart. Connie also spent several enjoyable years living in Florida and took pleasure in shopping and the simple routines that brought her happiness.
In addition to her husband, Connie is survived by her daughter, Belinda (Kevin) Carnes of Clarington, Pennsylvania; her sons, Greg Shearer of Orrville and Kyle (Karen) Shearer of Reidsville, North Carolina; her step-son, Steven (Christy) Prough of Atwater, Ohio; her step-daughter, Jamie (Jeff) Lawhorne of Cuyahoga Falls; grandchildren, Miranda Pauken, Andi (Tim) Snyder, Jason and Joey Shearer, Allie McCandless, Raylee Briggs, and Skylar McCandless; and great-grandchildren, Jaden Windsor and Spider.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her step-son, Matthew Edward Prough; and her brothers, Gary, Joey, and Guy Ziegler.
