Connie Vater Spaw

Connie Vater Spaw, 74, of Cold Spring, KY, lost her long battle with illness on January 26th, 2024, at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Fort Thomas. Connie was born in Dayton, Ky on April 8th,1949. She was a graduate of Bishop Brossart High School, and Morehead State University where she earned her degree in graphic arts. Connie's creativity extended to all areas of her life, from landscaping to decorating to fashion. Her ability to create was limitless. She always had a project or two in progress. Connie enjoyed reading, collecting antiques or yard sale "treasures", caring for her flowers but most of all, spending time with her family and friends. Connie spent much of her life working hard in the family business, Vater's Playground. She loved talking with friends and patrons during those years at the ballpark. Connie had several meaningful careers outside the home including working as a self-employed graphic artist, and teaching art classes at St. Mary school. She worked in the IT dept at Convergys and aside from raising her own kids, she would say her most rewarding role was working as an aid for special needs children at Simon Kenton High School. Connie loved to travel and she was always creating or curating thoughtful gifts for everyone she knew. Connie was preceded in death by her parents, Victor & Mary (nee Bezold) Vater. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Jim Spaw; two sons Artie (Heather) Spaw and Adam Spaw; two grandsons, Elias Spaw and Finnian Spaw; two siblings Rick (Cathleen) Vater and Kim (Kent) Nickell. Visitation will be Friday Feb 2nd, 2024, at St. Joseph Church, 4011 Alexandria Pike Cold Spring, KY from 10am until time of mass at 12pm. Gathering of friends & family to follow immediately after mass in Kelly Hall.
