Obituary published on Legacy.com by Snyder Funeral Homes, DeVore Chapel on Aug. 19, 2025.
Donald "Craig" Miller, 61, of Marion, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly on August 12, 2025, while working and visiting in Texas. Craig held a deep love for Texas and Oklahoma, where he had many extended family members and friends who adored him and affectionately called him "Cousin Craig."
At home in Ohio, Craig was a devoted husband, loving dad, and proud family man. His favorite and most cherished role was "Pop Pop." Anyone who spoke with him quickly learned about his granddaughters, who were the light of his life.
He is survived by his wife, Lori Miller; his children, Garrett Miller, Logan (Joshua) Carey, Audrey Miller, and Devan Miller; and his beloved grandchildren, Mila and Maren Carey. He is also survived by his mother, Thelma Millhon (Mark Miller); his brother, Scott Miller (Melissa Dingus); his parents-in-law, Rick and Marlene Derry; and many special aunts, uncles, and cousins. Craig also leaves behind his loyal dog, Willow, who was his constant companion and travel partner for the past five years.
Craig was born on June 8, 1964, in Columbus, Ohio, to Donald Miller and Thelma (McDaniel) Millhon.
Craig graduated from Big Walnut High School in 1983. In 1990, he became licensed in insurance and joined the Glenn Evans Nationwide Insurance Agency in
Sunbury, Ohio, where he was mentored by Glenn Evans. The business proved to be a perfect fit for Craig, and through hard work and dedication he was given the opportunity to open and manage the Glenn Evans Agency in Marion, Ohio, in the mid-1990s. After moving to Marion, he quickly built relationships and grew the business. In 2006, Craig established his own Nationwide Insurance Agency, later becoming an independent agent in 2020. Known for his dedication and passion for serving others, Craig built Craig Miller Insurance into a trusted agency that served clients across Ohio, Oklahoma, and Texas. His success was made possible in part by his loyal assistant, Angie Trent, who kept the office running smoothly while Craig traveled the country building relationships and caring for his clients.
On May 8, 2004, he married Lori (Derry) Miller. Together, they built a life centered on family and friends, sharing a strong bond and a deep love for their children and extended family.
Craig lived life to the absolute fullest. He dreamed big, lived big, and loved even bigger. With his contagious laugh, unshakable enthusiasm, and genuine care for others, he made every person he met feel valued. He was happiest outdoors-camping, hunting, riding his UTV, or relaxing in his backyard oasis. A natural storyteller, Craig loved sharing memories and adventures as if they had happened only yesterday. Each Christmas, he found joy in playing Santa, spreading love and cheer to the children at the Boys and Girls Club and to any others he could.
Craig gave far more than he ever expected in return and never forgot any kindness shown to him. He had a gift for connecting with people and always looked for ways to take care of those who had touched his life. His generous heart, unwavering positivity, and deep love for others will be remembered and missed by all who knew him.
Craig is preceded in death by his father, Donald G. Miller, and Virginia "Jippy" Dye, whom he loved as a second mother.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 20, from 5:00–7:00 PM, and on Thursday, August 21, from 10:00–11:00 AM, followed by a service officiated by Glenn Evans. All services will be held at Snyder Funeral Home, DeVore Chapel, 637 State Route 61,
Sunbury, OH 43074.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Marion Township Fire Department in Marion, Ohio or the American Legion Post #368 in Prospect, Ohio.
