Curtis Hamad Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Ratterman & Sons Funeral Home - Bardstown on Dec. 13, 2025.
On Wednesday, December 10, 2025, Curtis "Curt" Hamad, age 63, of Lebanon, Ohio, passed away surrounded by love at his residence. Born in Akron, Ohio on March 12, 1962, he was the son of the late Naser James Hamad, and Margaret Haren Hamad.
Curt was known for his love of horses and horse racing. He could often be found watching the races or planning the next trip to a track for a getaway with his favorite sport. He was a racehorse enthusiast all his life, with each gentle giant holding a special place in his heart. One of Curt's favorite places on earth was the Old Friends Farm in Georgetown, Kentucky; a special place for retired racehorses. Recently, Curt made mention that one of his favorite memories in life was being able to see the horse he and Valerie partially owned, a filly named Daddys Joy, race at the track. The first time he saw her run was at The Fairgrounds in Louisiana. Their travels together stretched far and wide across the whole country for horse racing. Being the planner he was, anywhere a vacation was taken, a track would be visited during the trip. Curt was also a history buff, and loved to visit battlefields and retired naval ships when he could, as well as being a sports fan in general. Fun spirited, Curt lived life to the fullest, and was driven with passion, whether for the love of family, or the love of racing. A husband, son, brother, and friend, Curt's legacy and memory will continue forward in the hearts of all who knew him.
In addition to his parents, Curt is preceded in death by his brother, Christopher Hamad.
Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of twenty-eight years, Valerie Hamad; sisters Clarissa Moser (Allan), Christine Miller (Dennis), Carrie Hamad, Caroline Bishop (Rob), and sister-in-law, Sandy Hamad; many loving nieces and nephews, and a host of great nieces and nephews.
Funeral mass will be celebrated 11:00am Thursday, December 18, 2025, at St. John Paul II Catholic Church, 3539 Goldsmith Lane, in Louisville. Burial will follow at St. Michael Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 9:00am until 10:30am Thursday, at Ratterman & Sons, 3800 Bardstown Road. Family will process to the church for mass following visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Old Friends Farm, Inc, 1841 Paynes Depot Road, Georgetown, Kentucky 40324.
