Dale Alan "Al" Hamilton, 56, of Millheim, passed away at his home on Friday, February 21, 2025. Born on September 6, 1968, in Ft. Dix, NJ, he was the son of the late William and Nancy (Traveny) Hamilton.
Al graduated from DuBois High School in 1986. Following graduation, he enlisted with the United States Navy, where he proudly served our country. He worked for various corrections facilities throughout the state of PA, but retired as a Trades Instructor from State Correctional Institute at Rockview. After retirement, he worked at Riverwoods in Lewisburg as a maintenance supervisor.
Al was an auctioneer and did many charity benefit auctions over the years for a variety of groups, especially the National Wild Turkey Federation, a group he was a proud member of for many years. The auctioning world knew him affectionately as "Gentleman Al Hamilton". He was also an avid supporter of the Scott Sipple Foundation. He enjoyed going to antique stores and thrift shopping, always on alert for a great deal and then resell items for their actual value. He loved music and played the acoustic guitar. He was an avid Pirates and Penguins fan and Penn State football fan. He had a larger than life personality and could be quite boisterous. He was the best at "dad jokes" and loved to make people laugh. If he had a nickname for you and picked on you relentlessly, he loved you.
Al is survived by his ex-wife and best friend, Heather M. (Lloyd) Hamilton of Millheim; seven children, Walker Andrew "Andy" Hamilton of Slippery Rock, Brandon Scholl of Mifflinburg, Cody Scholl and his wife, Hannah, of Snow Shoe, Shalyssa Rimmey and her husband, Cory, of Morrisdale, Tyja Tucker and her husband, Kirby, of Spring Mills, CJ Hamilton, and Kaelyn Hamilton; his grandson, Jaxston Scholl; and his brother, Steve Hamilton of Oil City, PA.
Along with his parents, Al was preceded in death by his brother, Kevin Hamilton.
A viewing will be held for Al on Thursday, February 27, 2025, from 10am -12 noon at the Daughenbaugh Funeral Home in Snow Shoe. A funeral service will immediately follow at 12 noon with Pastor Joshua Simonetti officiating. Military honors will be accorded at the funeral home following the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Veterans Assistance Fund, PO Box 546, Centre Hall, PA 16828.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Daughenbaugh Funeral Home, Inc in Snow Shoe. An online guest book can be signed or condolences to the family available at www.daughenbaughfuneralhome.com.

Scott Sipple Foundation

February 23, 2025

Al was a great auctioneer and person. He volunteered his time and skills for the past several years at the Scott Sipple Memorial Sporting Clay Shoot in Huntingdon. He was a joy to have around always making people laugh during our events. "Best auctioneer we've ever seen" is a phrase we heard all the time. His passing leaves a huge hole to fill for our events and we can't imagine how we will ever find another auctioneer that will be as generous with their time and dedicated to our cause. Rest in peace Al, you were one of a kind.
