Dale Hilton Shao passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 3, 2024, after a long battle with cancer. He is predeceased by his father, Stephen P. Shao, his mother, Betty Outen Shao, and his nephew, Alan T. Shao II.He is survived by his brothers and sisters, including Stephen P. Shao Jr., Lawrence P. Shao, Alan T. Shao, Patricia S. Dine, Christina L. Rule, Aron E. Shao and D. Zachary Shao. He is also survived by his stepmother, Priscilla G. Shao, and his nieces and nephews Stephen Shao III, Matthew Shao, Sarah Shao, Janine Shao, Victoria Shao, David Shao, Luke Shao, Arizona Dine, Cai Rule, Naomi Shao, Amber Shao, Eliza Shao and Penelope Shao.
Dale was highly educated, achieving a doctorate in management information systems from Georgia State University, and MBA and undergraduate degrees from Old Dominion University. He was a full-time faculty member at Marshall University, Fordham University and East Carolina University. His faith in God was strong, and often prayed for others to help them during challenging times. Bayside Baptist Church was instrumental in building his beliefs.

The family will receive guests at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home Bayside Chapel located at 1457 Independence Blvd, Virginia Beach, VA 23455 on Saturday, August 10 between 10:30 AM and 12PM. The burial service will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery located at 8100 Granby Street, Norfolk, VA 23505, to begin at 1PM. Condolences to the family may be offered at www.hollomon-brown.com
