I was truly saddened by the news of Dan De Caprio's passing. Upon reading his obituary I realized that he positively influenced many lives during his time on earth. I can say that he had the same influence on my life. I knew Dan De Caprio as "Coach De Caprio". He was introduced into my life from my high school days (47 yrs ago) at Crete Monee High School as the Head Football Coach. As my coach, he was instrumental in my development as a player and the aggressive promoting of my accomplishments to college coaches before the days of internet recruiting. He did this in such an excellent way that it allowed me to receive a full scholarship to play football in college. He also was a great motivator and injected a spark into my life during my high school years that I carry even to this day as the President and Owner of a medium size manufacturing company. Coach De Caprio leaves a strong legacy to his family and many of the people who were blessed to know and work closely with him. He was a man who seemed to fully understand his God given assignment and the purpose for his life. A great man once said that the richest place on earth is the cemetery. For in the cemetery are dreams left unfulfilled, books never written, and accomplishments left undone. I can say from the many comments by people who Coach De Caprio came in contact with throughout his life and by my own personal testimony that he seemed to complete every one of his God given assignments and passed away with an empty list. Coach De Caprio died empty leaving nothing to go into the grave not finished. To Carol and family I am praying for your strength and comfort during this time of grief but secure in the fact that Coach De Caprio's legacy will continue through the lives of many for generations to come.
