Daniel W. Byers, 77, of Erie, passed away Tuesday February 21, 2023 at UPMC Hamot. He was born in Pittsburgh on September 16, 1945 a son of the late Dr. Robert O. and Rita M. Murray Byers.
Dan graduated from Cathedral Prep and went on to graduate from John Carroll University. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War earning the rank of Sergeant. He was a member of the CYS Club, the St. Boniface Ushers Club, and the American Legion Carl Neff Post 571. He enjoyed golfing and was an avid hunter and fisher.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister, Gretchen Byers.
Survivors include his wife of 19 years, Tracey Chandler Byers; one daughter, Ann Baker (Ed) of Virginia; one son, Michael Byers (Kathy) of Florida; six grandchildren, Amber, Abigale, James, Eleanor, Erin, and Paige; four sisters, Sue Block (Mike) of Ohio, Chris Reinoehl of Florida, Tina Shimpeno (David) of Florida, and Holly Byers of Florida; two brothers, Scott Byers (Kathleen) of Washington and Erin Byers (Dierdre) of Georgia; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home Inc., 5000 Wattsburg Rd., on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Services and burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
