Daniel was a kind, soft-spoken man, and my step-brother. We were both adults when his mom, Polly, married my dad. Dan was always glad to help when the family had a need for assistance. I can remember distinctly how helpful he was when I needed someone to help me relocate from Knoxville to Washington DC when I took a job there. His mom and a couple of others were also with us. It was a long drive with 2 cars and a rental truck full of furniture. Dan took turns with me, driving my unheated 20-year-old Rambler up I-81, through the Virginia mountains in February. He was also a great help when my father entered a nursing home, regularly visiting him, keeping him company and assisting him in many ways. I know that Polly, Dustin, Kali and their families, Macy, Sue and Claire will cherish many happy memories and I hope those, and knowing that Dan is in the care of the Lord now, will comfort and sustain them.
