Danilo Peralta Haduca, a longtime resident of Monterey County, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family, on February 16, 2025. He was 76.
Danilo was born in Barrio Damacuag, Santa Lucia, Ilocos Sur, Philippines, on November 15, 1948, to his proud parents Pablo and Maria Guadalupe Haduca. He grew up with seven other brothers and sisters in a loving, happy household. He attended Santa Lucia High School, and the University of The East in the Philippines, majoring in Taxation for 3 years. After graduating, he served in the Philippine Army from 1968 to 1977.
Eventually, he moved to the United States with his sister Judith, landing first in Hawaii. In January of 1978, he finally settled in Watsonville. His wife Anita and their daughter Elizabeth arrived from the Philippines in June of 1980. They welcomed two more children, with their youngest being born in March of 1985.
Danilo worked for the Watsonville Post Office as a mail carrier from 1984 until his retirement in 2014. He was a proud member of Iglesia Ni Cristo Church of Christ and was baptized in June 1981. He was a loyal member, becoming a Light of Salvation President, a deacon, and eventually a Head Deacon in the church. He also became SCAN Air Marshall, communicating and collaborating with church members all over the world.
Even with all his responsibilities, Danilo loved being with his family, especially when he spent time with his beloved grandchildren. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather. His family, extended church family, and many friends will miss him dearly.
Danilo is survived by his loving wife of 47 years Anita Lazo Haduca, his children Elizabeth (Christopher R.) Lazo Haduca-Merilos, Richard (Natalie G.) Lazo Haduca, and Dianne (Allen A.) Haduca-Alexander, and his grandchildren Curtis R. Merilos, Ethan J. Merilos, Christopher D. Merilos, Jr., Samantha Haduca, Liam Haduca, Abram Alexander, and Noah Alexander. He also leaves behind his siblings Judith Haduca, Lydia (Ador) Acosta, Lita (Nestor) Banez, Marjorie (Homer) Moreno, Chito Haduca, and Arthur (Maria) Haduca. He was preceded in death by his mother Maria Guadalupe De Peralta Haduca, his father Pablo Haduca, and his brother Raymundo Haduca.
A viewing will be held at Mehl's Colonial Chapel – 222 E. Lake Avenue on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, from 5pm to 9pm. Burial will take place at Pajaro Valley Memorial Park – 127 Hecker Pass Road on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, at 11am.
