Danny Scott Myers, age 65, of Wheatfield, Indiana, passed away peacefully on June 2, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Danny was born on September 11, 1959, in Valparaiso, Indiana, to Rex and Jerri Myers. A proud graduate of Kankakee Valley High School, Class of 1978, Danny stood tall-literally and figuratively-shining as a star basketball player. His love for the game carried well into adulthood, where he continued to enjoy shooting hoops at local courts.
Bowling was another pastime, but Danny was most known for his hardworking spirit and dedication as a self-employed entrepreneur. Whether in farming or construction, he approached every project with passion and integrity. He never cut corners and believed in doing the job right the first time. His skills extended beyond work-he used them to make a lasting impact in his community, especially through his involvement with the Sons of the American Legion Post 406, where he helped build both structures and lasting friendships.
Family was the heart of Danny's world. He cherished time spent with his children and grandchildren, especially boating, fishing, camping, and hosting unforgettable cookouts. Holidays were his time to shine-filled with laughter, food, and fireworks. The Fourth of July was always a spectacular celebration, only rivaled by the enthusiasm he poured into his birthday parties.
Danny had a gift for connecting with people. He never met a stranger and was known for his warmth and easygoing nature. In recent years, he especially enjoyed sharing stories and laughter with the 'round table'-a group of close friends who meant the world to him.
He is survived by his children: Ryan Myers, Danielle (Steve) Fox, and Allison (Keegan) Higgins; and by 16 beloved grandchildren. Also surviving are his father Rex Myers, brother Don Myers, and sister Debby (Don) Capouch.
Danny was preceded in death by his mother, Jerri Myers, and stepmother, Donna Myers.
Family and friends are invited to honor Danny's life on Friday, June 6, 2025, at Integrity Funeral Home of Wheatfield, with visitation beginning at 10 a.m. until the time of service at 2 p.m., led by Pastor. Danny will be laid to rest at Kankakee Township Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Danny's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

So sorry to hear of Dan's passing. He meant the world to a whole bunch of people, including me. I can still see his smile and hear his laugh - which makes me smile. The world is a lesser place without him in it.
