Danny Shivers, a man whose laughter, love, and generosity touched everyone he met, gained his wings on September 11, 2025, at the blessed age of 73 years old.
He was born on August 3, 1952, in Humboldt, Tennessee, to Charlie and Jennie Mae Shivers. Danny lived in Saginaw, MI, and grew up with a deep appreciation for life’s simple joys. Whether it was casting a line into calm waters, lighting up the grill for a family barbecue, or putting on a favorite song, he knew how to turn ordinary moments into memories. Music was his constant companion, and his joy for sharing it was infectious.
Danny served the City of Saginaw as a Bus Operator for the Saginaw Transit System Authority. Soon after, he became self-employed and a caregiver for over 20 years to his mother whom he loved dearly. Family will remember the smell of his famous barbecue drifting through the air, and how his home became a gathering place filled with stories, laughter, and full plates.
His generosity extended far beyond his family. He believed in giving back, lending a hand where it was needed, and showing kindness without expecting anything in return. He was also a fisherman at heart. Fishing wasn’t just a hobby for him, it was where he found peace, patience, and joy.
Above all, he was a devoted son, brother, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, whose greatest pride was his family. His love was evident in everything he did. He leaves to cherish his memory two sons and two daughters, Triayanta Peoples and Elder Dan (Sharvella) Bibbs, of Michigan, and Daniel McMillan and Tiffany Perkins, of Indiana; three sisters, Jessie Mae Humes, Dorothy Shivers-Harmon, and Beverly Shivers, and one brother, Roosevelt Shivers, all of Michigan. He was blessed to have 20 grandchildren that he loved dearly: Jasmine, Brianna, Isaiah, KeAshia, Demarkus, Dequarius, Danyel, and Auden, all of Michigan; De’Markus (Brandy), Meshia, Isaiah, Daniel, Dayshawn, Davon, Dayon, Aniya, Dajanae, JP, and Jamiyah, all of Indiana. Danny also leaves an abundance of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and special friends, Victor Jones, Huedell McKinney, and Elbert Walker, who will also cherish his legacy of love, laughter, and generosity.
Danny was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Jennie Mae Shivers; his brothers, Charlie Shivers Jr. James Shivers Sr., Waymen Shivers, and Hayes Douglas; grandson, Jim McMillan; and nieces, Erica Douglas, Lashonda Shivers, and Shatoria Shivers.
