Danny "Dan" William Smith, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and brother, passed away peacefully at home on October 15, 2025, at the age of 70. Born on October 30, 1954, in Port Huron, Michigan, he was the son of the late Robert D. and Martha H. (Brennan) Smith. Dan's life was a testament to the love and joy he brought to those around him.
Dan was a devoted family man, and his love story with his wife, Cynthia, was one for the ages. They were married on October 25, 1980, and were just shy of celebrating their 45th anniversary. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and shared dreams. Their bond was an inspiration to all who knew them, and Cynthia's presence was a source of immense comfort and joy throughout Dan's life.
He was a proud father to his daughter, Heather (David) Condon of Gloucester, Virginia. Dan's role as a grandfather to Elizabeth "Ellie" Jayne and Evelyn Lee was one of his greatest joys. His love for his grandchildren was boundless, and he cherished every moment spent with them. Dan is also survived by his brother, David (Denise) Smith of Burtchville Township, and sisters-in-law, Deborah Livingston of Port Huron, Karen (Raymond) Denton of Fort Gratiot, and Cheryl (Scott) Hamilton of Jeddo. His nieces and nephews will remember him for his kindness, humor, and the wisdom he shared.
Dan was a proud alumnus of Port Huron Northern High School, where he formed many lifelong friendships. His career at Wirtz Manufacturing was marked by dedication and hard work, as he was a respected and valued employee throughout his tenure. His colleagues will remember him for his integrity, loyalty, and the camaraderie he brought to the workplace.
An avid outdoorsman, Dan found solace in the beauty of nature. Hunting and fishing were not just hobbies but a way of life that allowed him to connect with the world around him. His love for music was evident to anyone who knew him, often found enjoying music in the park on weekends. Dan's passion for travel took him to many places, and he recently fulfilled a lifelong dream of visiting Alaska, a trip that brought him great joy and wonder. When Dan wasn't travelling or spending time outdoors, he could be found at one of the local health clubs dedicating hours of his time to living the healthiest life possible. His commitment to fitness wasn't just a routine; it was a way of life that he embraced with enthusiasm and discipline.
Dan's life was a journey of love, commitment, and adventure. His legacy will live on in the hearts of those he touched with his warmth, generosity, and spirited nature. As we say goodbye to Danny "Dan" William Smith, we celebrate a life well-lived and a man deeply loved. He will be profoundly missed, but the memories he created will continue to bring comfort and smiles to all who were fortunate enough to have known him.
A gathering and viewing will be held on Monday, October 20, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Grace Memorial Life Celebration Center, 4521 Ravenswood Road, Kimball, Michigan 48074.
