Darin L. Butts Sr.

Darin L. Butts, Sr., 56, of Dunkirk, passed away peacefully in his home on August 18, 2025. Born on September 10, 1968, he was the beloved son of Jura Bell Butts and the late Charlie L. Butts Sr.

Darin attended Dunkirk High School where he was a basketball all-star and went on to dedicate his life to hard work and service in his community. Over the years, he was employed with The Resource Center, Code, and The Hampton Inn. Beyond his professional career, Darin poured his heart into coaching as an AAU coach, where he inspired countless young athletes with his passion, guidance, and encouragement.

He was preceded in death by his father, Charlie L. Butts, Sr., and his siblings, Cleveland Butts, Charlie Butts, Jr., and Susan Butts.

Darin's greatest pride and joy was his family. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his children, Shantika Butts, Sheltar Brown, Tiffany Butts, Raheem Butts, Darin Butts, Jr., Peyton Butts, Trijze Butts, Paige Egroff, Tanavia Saintkitts, Darien Butts, and Bishop Butts. He is also survived by his brothers, Michael (Michelle) Butts of Florida, Chad (Yolanda) Butts of Dunkirk, and Brandon Butts of Dunkirk, as well as 12 grandchildren who brought him immeasurable happiness.

One of Darin's greatest joys was cheering from the sidelines at his children's and grandchildren's basketball games. His presence, encouragement, and pride in their accomplishments will be remembered by all who shared those special moments with him.

Known for his devotion, Darin was an active and loving father, grandfather, brother, and friend. His laughter, strength, and kindness will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Darin's family will receive friends for a time of visitation from 2-3pm Sunday, August 24, 2025, at Lind Funeral Home in Jamestown. The funeral service will follow from 3-4pm at Lind's.
