Our sweet mother, Darlene Markovich, peacefully passed away on August 17, 2025 at the age of 86, surrounded by her three caring daughters. Darlene was born on February 15, 1939 to Oleen and Norma Halling in Brigham City, Utah. She attended Box Elder High School class of 1957. Married Donald Markovich December 13, 1968 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Darlene enjoyed crafting and sewing sessions with her lifelong friend/sister, Dianna as well as attending Utah Jazz games with her dear friend Paulette. She loved camping and boating where she could spend quality time with family and friends. She also enjoyed listening to music and watching her favorite TV shows. Mom had a particular fondness for playing card games, especially gin rummy. Later in life when she was unable to go out, she cherished visits from friends and family and greeted them with a warm smile and a hug. Whenever someone inquired about her well-being, her response was always, "I'm fine." She took great pleasure in going on walks with her daughter, Julie in the neighborhood and making sure she knew what her neighbors were up to. She also enjoyed solving word searches and playing solitaire on her iPad. Prior to her health decline, she found joy in being a senior companion and contributing to her community. Oh, we cannot forget her love of chocolate. Her legacy of love, kindness and enthusiasm for life, continues to live on in the hearts of family and friends. Julie was our moms angel-she was her constant companion and full time care taker for the past several years. Our angel mom will forever watch over her. We are so grateful to her for taking such loving care of her the way she did. We love you Julie. Survived by her daughters Julie (West Jordan), Kristie (Billings), Shelli (Herriman), and son Scott (unknown). Also surviving are her 9 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, 2 brothers Don and Larry, sister-in-law Eleanor Markovich, brother-in-law George (Kaylene) Markovich as well as several nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her husband Don, daughter Cindy, her parents, 2 sisters Delphine and Ione, brother-in-law Ron Markovich, and sister-in-law Sylvia Boyer. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the care team at Independence Home Health and Hospice, particularly Leti and Julia who showed such compassion and love toward our Mom. Graveside services will be held Monday August 25, 2025 at 12:00. Memorial Redwood Mortuary & Cemetery, 6500 South Redwood Rd. West Jordan, Utah
