Darlene Soderberg

Darlene "Dee Dee" D. Soderberg, 75, of Roscoe, passed away on Monday, March 4, 2024. Born December 17, 1948, in Chicago, IL, the daughter of Richard Curtis Leonardson and Lucille Victoria Kuzniewicz. Graduate of East High School in 1967. Dee Dee married Leroy "Wink" Soderberg, Jr. on March 16, 1968. He predeceased her on April 29, 1989.
Dee Dee graduated with her Associates Degree in Nursing from Rock Valley College in 1982. She continued her nursing education at Rockford University and graduated magna cum laude with her B.SN in 1985. After a number of years working as a nurse, she chose to go to NIU law school and graduated in 1995. She was semi-retired and deeply involved in volunteer work throughout the community. Her passion for voter registration led her to being the co-chair of the Voter Service Committee LWVGR. In her spare time, she loved spending time with her grandchildren and traveling. She enjoyed spending summers at Castle Rock Lake, on the water, with family and friends.
Survived by her children, Chad (Anne) Soderberg and Barb (Matt) Zimmerman; grandchildren, Reid and Dean Soderberg, Kelsey, Kendra and Kailin Zimmerman, Kayla (Bryce) Cullen, and Justin Tilley. Also predeceased by her parents.

Memorial Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, March 15, 2024 at Olson North Main Chapel, 2811 N. Main St., Rockford. Visitation will be from 12:00 to 12:45 p.m. prior to the service.
