David Michael Andrascik, age 80 of Sandston, VA, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, May 2, 2024. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Janet Andrascik; 3 children, April Kelly (Ryan) of Mechanicsville, Michael Andrascik of New Kent, and Anita Fluker (T.R.) of Richmond; 5 grandchildren (Cody, Julia, Nathan, Leah, and Sonny); brother Bob Andrascik of Ohio, sister Audrey Robbins of California; and a host of nieces and nephews.
David was born in North Braddock, PA, and was a graduate of the Milton Hershey School in Hershey, PA. He was a tool and die maker for his entire career which began at Western Electric in Reading, PA, and ended with his retirement from Viasystems Technologies in Richmond, VA.
David was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan. He was an animal lover, and provided a good home to many stray dogs that he adopted throughout his life. He loved his many friends and his church family at Emmaus Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. David had type 1 diabetes for 53 years and his hope was that one day there will be a cure. His family is grateful for the love and care provided by his caregivers for the last 2 years.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, May 11, 2024, at 2pm at Emmaus Baptist Church, 6700 Emmaus Church Road, Providence Forge, VA 23140 followed by a memorial service at 3pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Diabetes Association.
