David "Dave" M. Burich, 73, of Hermitage, PA, passed away unexpectedly on January 13, 2025, at UPMC Horizon - Shenango.
He was born in Sharon, PA on December 22, 1951, to Martin Thomas Burich and Mary Irene (Miklos) Burich.
Dave graduated from Sharon High School in 1970 then graduated from Edinboro University. Dave had a master's degree in education. He was a secondary history teacher and Drivers ED instructor at Sharon High School.
David was a director of the Mercer County Hall of Fame. David served on the board of the Mercer County Community Federal Credit Union. He was a member of St. Bartholomew Catholic Church and a member of the Croatian Club.
Dave was inducted into the Mercer County Hall of Fame in 2017 for his role in Coaching both boys' and girls' basketball. He began his outstanding basketball career as a player and a coach at Sharon High School and his playing abilities grew at Edinboro-Shenango where he had an outstanding career. He served as an assistant basketball coach for several schools in the valley, notably Sharon High School. Dave loved coaching, shopping, and watching the Steelers and Pirates. He was always willing to help people and enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his children and grandchildren.
David was married to Karen L (Piccirilli) Burich on May 10, 1975, she survives at home. They were married for 50 years.
David is also survived by his children; Amy Garrett (Jeff) of Hermitage, Tricia Schweiss (Justin) of Hermitage, David M. Burich II (Tiffany) of Palm Harbor, FL. Sister, Mary Wnek of Maumelle, AR. Brother, Robert Burich (Cindy) of Farrell. Grandchildren; Austin and Ava Garrett, Paxton M. Burich, Mylan Schweiss, Harper Burich and Camryn Schweiss. Brother-in-Law and Sister-In-Law, Robert and Susan Piccirilli of Sharpsville. Also surviving are many beloved nieces' nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
David was preceded in death by his parents.
The family requests for everyone to join them at St. Bartholomew's church for a mass of Christian burial at 9:30 am on Saturday, January 18th. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to St Bartholomew's Church.
