David (Dave) Koshalek, 75, passed away June 19, 2023 surrounded by his family after a courageous and long battle with agent orange related illnesses.

David was born in Wausau on October 17, 1947 to the late Clifford and LaVerne (Kellnhauser) Koshalek. He grew up in Appleton, graduating from Xavier High School class of 65’. He attended Madison Area Technical College and UW River Falls prior to enlisting in the Army (‘67-’70) to serve his country in Vietnam (B co.2/16 Inf Big Red One ’67-’68). Dave was a voracious reader and had a deep passion for music which he shared with his brother Jeff and sister Linda and passed on to his wife and his children.

He loved spending precious time with his family. Family card games and game nights, boating (or just hanging out on the dock at SouthBay) watching AND “coaching” (yelling at the TV) all sports especially the Packers and the Brewers.

He married the love of his life Lori Jones-Koshalek on December 18, 1987. They were blessed with two children Eric and Lauren, he was a proud and supportive dad to both. Although he was most proud and loved being Papa to his granddaughter Payton. They shared a special bond.

Dave is survived by his wife, Lori; children: Lauren Koshalek, Eric (Alicia) Koshalek, Granddaughter Payton Koshalek, bonus son, Sanjay Murthy (Nicole), honorary Papa to Arjun Murthy; sister, Linda Koshalek-Robinson; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Pamela and Denis Noel, mother-in-law, Lu Jones; nieces and nephews: Katy (Jon) Cook, Sam Koshalek, Lindsay (Brad) Prosser, Jason (Heather) Noel, Bryan Noel, Adam (Amanda) Noel; great nieces and nephews: Chloe and Alyssa Noel; Beckett Cook; Jamison and Caleb Prosser; Tanner, Gionni and Armani Noel. He loved you all to the moon and back!

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Jeff.

A service with full military honors will be held at a later date.

Dave’s family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to Aurora Hospice Services, especially Andrea, Stephanie, Kim, Angela, Jessica, Megan, Sandy for their care and support.

A special thank you to Dave’s sister-in-law Pam, for assisting Lori and Lauren provide support and care for Dave during the last few months of his life.
