David Elzie Elmore, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on June 20, 2025, in
Katy, Texas, at the age of 71. Born on July 28, 1953, in Wolf Point, Montana, David was the cherished son of Cecil Elzie Elmore and Mildred Marie (Calhoun) Elmore. He was a beacon of light to all who knew him, and his warm spirit will be profoundly missed.
David's educational journey began in elementary and junior high school near Roswell, New Mexico, before his family moved to La Grange, Texas, where he completed his high school education. He graduated from La Grange High School in 1971. His academic prowess led him to Blinn Junior College, where he earned an Associate of Arts degree in 1973 and was honored to be elected to Who's Who Among Students in American Junior Colleges. David continued his studies at Sam Houston State University, where he achieved a Bachelor of Business Administration in May 1975, laying the groundwork for a life dedicated to service and community.
On October 19, 1974, David married the love of his life, Linda Hancock, in Smithville, Texas. Together they built a beautiful life filled with love, laughter, and family. David is survived by his devoted wife, Linda, and their two beloved daughters, Courtney Elmore Foerster (Nick) and Devon Elmore Mican (Bryan). He was a proud grandfather to five grandchildren: Trace Mican, Avery Foerster, Lexie Mican, Ansley Foerster, and Teegan Foerster. His legacy will live on through them, as he instilled values of kindness, respect, and joy in all who were fortunate enough to be in his presence. David is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews who cherished his guidance and love.
David was a member of Memorial Lutheran Church, where he served as an Elder and usher, roles that perfectly suited his friendly personality and desire to connect with people. He was always ready with a smile, a tease, and a comforting hug for anyone who needed it. David's love for his community was evident in his willingness to help others without seeking recognition.
A man of many interests, David spent countless hours cheering on his grandchildren at their sporting events, a testament to his unwavering support for his family. He had a fondness for the color blue and particularly enjoyed Mexican food from Victor's, always relishing the simple pleasures in life. His friendly demeanor and contagious spirit made him a cherished figure in the lives of many.
David is preceded in death by his Parents, parents-in-law, Jack and Iona Hancock, and his brothers-in-law, Benjamin Helton, Jack E. Hancock, and Allan Hancock. The absence of such a wonderful man will be deeply felt by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A funeral service to honor David's life will be held on July 7, 2025, at 10:30 AM at Memorial Lutheran Church, officiated by Rev. John Davis. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Memorial Lutheran Church, Mason Road Animal Clinic, or the Houston Lutheran Chorale.
David Elzie Elmore leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and selflessness. He will be forever remembered for his great personality and gentle spirit that brought joy to everyone around him. As we celebrate his life, we invite all who knew him to carry forward his light and love in their hearts.
Pallbearers will be, Nick Foerster, Bryan Mican, Trace Mican, Avery Foerster, Chris Helton and Bobby Stahmer. Honorary pallbearers are, Lexie Mican, Ansley and Teegan Foerster, Benjamin and Joseph Doherty, Axel Sosa, all the members of the Board of Elders and an old friend, Steve Galus; his best friend, Mike Petras and "Honorary Son", Oscar Perez.
