724 days.  That’s how long David had to endure life without the love of his life, Jean.  13,109 days without his oldest son, Brad.  On the morning of August 24, 2023, David Leo Frank was reunited with them in God’s Kingdom of Heaven.  David passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side after recovering from a fall he’d taken in July.   He no longer struggles to breathe anymore and he doesn’t hurt anymore.  He’s riding the range he always dreamed of.

On July 16, 1945, the same day the first atomic bomb was put to a full scale test, David entered this life with a bang; born to Leo and Letha (Tenny) Frank in Albert Lea, MN.  He attended Albert Lea schools while also testing his wild oats.  He was a rambunctious young man with a love for wrenching on cars.  Throughout his life he worked and fixed cars with various auto shops in the area and in his own garage.  He was especially knowledgeable with Volkswagen and was the go-to mechanic with any type of question.  In his free time, he could often be spotted at the gun range and enjoyed shooting trap.  He was a longtime member of the Amateur Trapshooting Association and enjoyed traveling to many shoots both in the area and around the country.

On April 18, 1964, he married Jean Severtson where they raised their family with some time spent in Wyoming.   It wasn’t until he was a grandpa that he began fishing.  David wasn’t one to just do something half way; he did everything with gusto!  Three weeks after his first outing with his grandson on “Take a Kid Fishing” day a boat was parked in the driveway and a dozen fishing poles to choose from!  A pastime that he loved to do from a day trip in the boat or a relaxing afternoon, fishing from the shore.  In his retirement, he and Jean spent winters in Apache Junction in Arizona for 19 years, where they enjoyed 4-wheeling in the desert and spending time visiting with friends.

With a love for everything cowboy, especially his cowboy boots and John Wayne, he will always be remembered for his cowboy spirit.  Giddy up pops, we’re burning daylight, we love you and we will see you when we get home.

Left to cherish his memory are his children; Lance Frank and Lisa Frank, grandchildren, Chaice, Liberty, Patrick, Jackson, Bailey, Matthew, and Brittany; sister, Marcella (Ron) Haroldson; and sister-in-law, Katherine Hall, and several nieces and nephews.

David was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 57 years, Jean in 2021; son, Brad in 1987; and sister-in-law, Roxie (Marcelino) Talamentes.

David’s family will host a memorial service on September 9, 2023 from 1:00 PM-3:00 PM at Shootin’ Acres in Wells, MN.
