Born on Christmas morning in 1943 to Andrew D. French and Alice A. French (Keesler), David W. French passed away after a courageous battle with Lewy Body Dementia on Easter morning, April 20, 2025.
He leaves behind a daughter, Alice French and; her fiancé Steve; a grandson, Bryce Klinger; a sister, Joan Warner and her husband Neil; a sister-in-law Katherine Ball, close family friend Karen Smith and several cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife of 50 years, Anna T. French (Fey), sister-in-law Caroline Weidler and brothers-in-law, Phillip Ball and; Edward Weidler.
He was born and raised in Honesdale, graduated Class of 1962 from Honesdale High School and resided for 55 years in the close-knit community of White Mills. Hard working, he had various occupations over the years, retiring from Lake Region IGA. He was dedicated to his family and especially enjoyed attending all his grandson's musical events. One of his favorite past times was driving around Wayne County, stopping often at Mangan Cove. He spent his last year making friends at Ellen Memorial in Honesdale. The family acknowledges all the staff for their kind and; gracious care extended to David and special gratitude to his caregiver, Margaret who assisted the family and allowed him to live in his home before transitioning to Ellen Memorial's care.
A celebration of life will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to The Trevor Project, an organization that focuses on LGBTQ+ youth and provides real time crisis intervention.
