With heartfelt sorrow, we announce the passing of David Richard Green, lovingly known as Dave, who left us on July 22, 2023, just shy of his 69th birthday. Born on July 28, 1954, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, David was the epitome of a Philadelphia native, having lived all his life in the city that he so dearly loved. A devoted husband to Barbara Green, whom he married on March 30, 1979, David was a pillar of strength and love for his family and community.
David spent his career working in the School District of Philadelphia as a custodian and later retired from First Presbyterian Church of Holmesburg. His dedication to his work was evident in the countless ways he contributed to the well-being of the students and the church community. A member of the International Order of Odd Fellows, David had a passion for service and was always up for lending a helping hand. Despite not having children of his own, his love for his nieces and nephews was boundless. David was their biggest cheerleader, always supporting them in every endeavor. His unconditional love for them was his greatest achievement, and he took immense pride in their accomplishments.
David leaves behind a rich legacy of love and devotion. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Green (nee Smith); his brothers, Henry (Shirley) Jr., and Robert (Nancy - deceased) Green; his sister, Susan (Steven) Toll; nieces, Amy Toll, Megan (Mike) Toll, and Sarah (Jim) Green; nephews, Joshua (Victoria) Toll, Henry III, and Ethan Green; and a great-nephews Samuel and Logan. He was preceded in death by his father, Henry Green; mother, Mildred Green; and sister-in-law, Nancy (Robert) Green.
David's life was a testament to his unwavering love for his family, and his indomitable spirit will continue to inspire all who knew him. We invite you to share your memories of David and upload photos to his memorial page, celebrating the life of a man who gave so much of himself to others. Your stories and pictures will serve as a comforting reminder of the impact David had on our lives and the love he shared with us all.
We invite you to share in a celebration of David's life on Sunday, August 20, 2023 at 1:30 PM at Memorial Presbyterian Church of Fox Chase, 7902 Oxford Ave. Philadelphia, PA 19111.
