David "Corbett" Harrell, 66, passed away suddenly on Saturday, March 23, 2024, in Monticello, FL. He was born on December 3, 1957, in Blountstown, Florida to Eva Mae Pumphrey Harrell and Bronzie Lee Harrell Sr. The family moved to Woodville, FL when he was 10 years old and attended Rickards High School in Tallahassee. After high school Corbett joined the National Guard where he served for 6 years. He would often speak of his training in Panama and the work he did on the canal. When his grandsons joined the military last year, he would constantly share stories, suggestions, and advice as they started their military journey.
After the army he worked for the City of Tallahassee and Weston Trawick Electric for many
years before he eventually began working for the Florida Court Clerks and Comptrollers
Association. He retired in June 2023 after 22 years and was truly enjoying retirement.
In his free time, he enjoyed cheering on his grandchildren in every sport they played or telling
stories to anyone who would listen about what they had going on. He rarely missed a game and
was by far their biggest fan. He also loved FSU football and took great pride in decking out his truck in all things FSU during football season. He loved attending games and when he wasn't there in person, he was always watching on TV. Corbett also had a lifelong passion for raising chickens, roosters, and pigeons.
In the last few years, he developed a love for cruising and tried to take at least one cruise each
year.
Corbett had a heart of gold and those who really knew him, knew that he was the most tender-
hearted man and would do anything for anyone. He was truly a devoted father, grandfather,
and friend.
He is survived by his daughter Kendall Harrell and son David (Whitney) Harrell; sisters Beverly H. Sanders and Mary H. Row. Brothers Jerry (Mary) Harrell, Mickey (Jackie) Harrell, and Greg Harrell. Grandchildren Taylor (Lily) Gilley, Jordan Gilley, Morgan Gilley, and Brady Harrell; as well as many more amazing friends, nieces, and nephews, He was preceded in death by his parents, his children's mother Anne Shivers, and brothers Bronzie Lee Harrell Jr. and Jim Harrell.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 2, 2024 at Beggs Funeral Home with burial at Roselawn Cemetery immediately following. The family will receive friends on Monday April 1st from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. also at Beggs Funeral Home, 3322 Apalachee Parkway, Tallahassee, FL 32311.
