David Randall Hicks, 41, of Victor, Idaho, tragically passed away on September 9, 2025, following a sudden accident.

Born on January 13, 1984, in Billings, Montana, David was the son of Gary Byars and Christine Reintsma.

From an early age, he demonstrated a deep love for baseball, teaching himself to pitch by hanging an old tire from a tree and spending countless hours perfecting his craft. David described his dedication is what led him to play for the Billings Royals, earning himself a full scholarship to the University of North Dakota. Unfortunately, a shoulder injury brought an early end to his baseball career. Although his passion and determination never wavered.

After college David embarked on a career as a vet tech, a field that tested both his compassion and courage. Later he’d transition to jobs in general labor, on his days close to home he’d make it a goal to stop by for lunch.

David had an extraordinary ability to connect with people due to his quick wit, creative spirit, and boundless curiosity. But most importantly was his infectious humor. He created friendships with everyone he met. His personality forms bonds with those lucky enough to know him.

In 2018, David moved to Victor, Idaho, where he met the love of his life, Jeniffer Marie Oglesby. Their bond was immediate, and what followed was a relationship that would become the foundation of David’s happiness. They married in September of 2019, and David often said that marrying Jeniffer was the best decision he ever made. Jeniffer became not only his soulmate, but his greatest source of strength. David’s relationship with Jeniffer was his greatest joy. It was through unwavering love and support that David found the strength to face some of his toughest challenges.

Their union brought David not only a loving partner but also two beautiful bonus daughters, Hallie Cummings and Kayleigh Oglesby, who were 11 and 7 at the time. In July 2024 David and Jeniffer welcomed a daughter of their own Addaley Oglesby.

The connection David shared with all three girls was immeasurable, unarguably they were the light of his life. His love unconditional, and every moment spent with them—whether it was playing with their pets, helping with homework, fixing Hallie’s cars, sharing music with Kayleigh, or simply watching all three of them grow—was a cherished treasure. David was happiest spending time with his family, he never asked for anything more. He was always there to cheer you on through the best times and most importantly the hardest.

David’s passing leaves a profound void in the lives of his family, friends, and all who knew him. He will be remembered for his kindness, his laughter, and his unwavering love for those closest to him.

David is survived by his wife, Jeniffer, daughters Hallie, Kayleigh, and Addaley, and his extended family and many friends who will miss him dearly. He is preceded in death by his parents and his grandparents.
