David L. Hooley, Fort Wayne, 87, died Friday, March 14, 2025 at Stillwater Hospice Home.
He was born June 5, 1937 in Elkhart to Orvin and Pauline (Miller) Hooley.
On September 12, 1959 he married Lois Jean Yoder in Midland, Michigan. She died November 14, 2015.
Survivors include three children, Jane'e (Brad) Bontrager, Shipshewana, Scott (Jane) Hooley, Howe and Terri Souers, Fort Wayne; grandchildren, Kris (Jeannie) Bontrager, Nathan Hooley, Eric Hooley, Aaron (Sarah) Hooley, Danielle (John) Knight and Natalie (Cody) Haxton; step-grandchildren, Chelsea and Tony Rice; and five great grandchildren.
He is also survived by two sisters, Linda Martin, Arcadia, Florida and Mary (Larry) Kilgore, Shipshewana; two brothers, John (Barbara) Hooley, Shipshewana and Joe (Maxine) Hooley, Florida; and a sister-in-law, Edith Hooley, Goshen.
Along with his parents and wife, Lois, he was preceded in death by granddaughter, Jessica Bontrager; great grandchildren, Ethan and Logan Knight; step-great grandson, Benjamin Rice; a brother, William Hooley; and a brother-in-law, Dallas Martin.
Mr. Hooley worked as a cross-country truck driver for Cast Metal Industries for 20 plus years prior to his retirement. For many years he and Lois wintered in Arcadia, Florida where they attended Pine Creek Mennonite Chapel.
A celebration of life will take place on April 5 at 10 a.m., at The Chapel, 2505 W. Hamilton Rd., Fort Wayne.
Burial will be at Shore Cemetery at a later date.
Memorial gifts may be directed to a church of the donor's choice or Stillwater Hospice, Fort Wayne.
