David L. Hornak, of Oxford, Michigan, has passed unexpectedly on October 5, at the age of 79. He was born in Pontiac, Michigan, to Joe and Anita (nee Tino) Hornak, on February 9, 1946.
David was best known as a kind and caring man who took great pride in serving his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.
He was always willing to lend a helpful hand where could or be there for others as an ear to listen. He loved to travel and did so often on his Goldwing motorcycle. But above all, David enjoyed spending time and making precious memories with his friends and family.
David is survived by his sister, Mary (Patrick) Corriveau, and brother, Joseph Hornak. David is also survived by his beloved children, Lynn Wright, Peggy Auciello, and Scott Hornak as well as eight cherished grandchildren, and five treasured great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Anita.
Visitation will take place at Lynch & Sons Funeral Directors, 1368 North Crooks Road, in Clawson (between 14 and 15 Mile Road), on October 10, from 1pm to 8pm. A Funeral Service will be given at the funeral home to celebrate David's life on Saturday, October 11, at 10am. Friends may visit on Saturday beginning at 9:30am.
Military Honors will be rendered by the United States Army following services on Saturday.
In memory of David, memorials are appreciated to the ALS Foundation, 1300 Wilson Boulevard, Suite 600, Arlington, Virginia, 22209.
