David Horton Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Guerrero-Dean Funeral Home - Grand Prairie on Jan. 6, 2026.
With heavy hearts but joyful memories, we announce the passing of David Horton on January 2, 2026. Born in Plainview, Texas, David was a beloved husband, father, brother, and "Pa Pa." He leaves behind his devoted wife, Melody Horton, who was not just his partner in life but also his greatest supporter and friend.

David's journey started at LD Bell High School, and he later pursued his passion for technology at DeVry University. For over 30 years, he poured his heart and soul into his business, Pro Star Productions, where he created countless memories and touched many lives.

A true lover of life, David's passions were as varied as his interests! He adored his Great Pyrenees dogs, Harley, Max, and Cosmo, who were always by his side. As a licensed pilot, David had a knack for adventure, whether soaring through the skies or flying his cherished remote-controlled airplanes. He also enjoyed connecting with others through his love of ham radio, where he formed friendships that spanned the globe.

David's spirit was infectious, and his laughter lit up every room. He will be remembered for his generosity, his adventurous heart, and his unwavering love for his family and friends.

In addition to his wife of forty-two years, Melody Ann Pryor Horton, he is survived by a son, David Horton Jr and fiancée Lisa; grandchildren, Chaney and Kylie; great-grandson, Carter and a brother, Daniel Horton and spouse Beth. Also by many nieces and nephews including McKenzie who would accompany him to movies.

In honor of David's vibrant life, a celebratory gathering will be held to share stories, laughs, and fond memories. A Celebration of his life will occur at 1:30 pm on Saturday, January 10, 2026 at Indian Hills Baptist Church in Grand Prairie, Rev. Mike Horton officiating.

Though David has taken his final flight, his legacy will continue to soar in our hearts. Let's celebrate the incredible man who enriched our lives in ways too many to count!

David was my best friend. I first met him in 1977 when he had a TV shop in Richland Hills Texas. I was in need of some parts to fix an old television and David had the part I needed. From that started a long friendship. I had just got my Amateur radio license. Eventually David got his. We went to a lot of hamfests together as well as sidewalk sales of Amateur radio and computers. We even built and sold IBM clone computers when that became the big thing to have.
David introduced me to RC airplanes and got me into it during a low point in my life when I needed something to get me through a tough time.
He has always been there for me. When my wife Kathleen was in the hospital with cancer, he came and sat with me and talked to me when I needed emotional support.
I am thankful for all of the years of friendship that I had with David.
My prayers for his wife Melody and all of his family during this difficult time.
