David's life began and ended on this earth surrounded by the love of his family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents Fred and Dortha Kikrbride; two sons-in-law: Jerry and Wade; and brother-in-law: Ray.
David is survived by loving wife Nancy Kirkbride; his son David (Vera) Kirkbride, children Morgan (Emmett) Rowland, their children Braxton, Jenson, Kylie, and Khloe, Brooke (Cole) Howes, their children Judahand Jonah; his daughter Beth Smoke, her children Zachary (Amanda) Smoke, their children Kaydence, Kristopher, and Karlee, and Erika (Jesse) Wicker, her child Alexis, Makayla Hickman; his daughter Amy (Dustin) Lindsay, her children Isabella Lindsay and Zoe Lindsay; siblings Jan (Linda) Kirkbride, Cheryl (Jeff) Norris, and Carol Pierce; his best friend Charlie Walters; many special nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.
Throughout our Dad's life he had many accomplishments. David was raised on a Jersey dairy farm. He was a member of the FFA Club, showing Jersey cattle. He received many awards during his membership, including a 2nd Place Top Cow Award at The Ohio State Fair in 1962. David was the captain of his high school basketball team and the pitcher on his high school baseball team. He was the President, Vice President, and Valedictorian of Marion High School Class of 1963.
David married his high school sweetheart, Nancy Kuhn on July 27, 1963. They moved to Chicago, Illinois were he went to school to become a Lineman. He became a member of IBEW Brotherhood Local 71. He worked for several companies throughout the world including L.E. Myers Company in Saudi Arabia. He settled down in Pataskala, Ohio where he raised his 3 beautiful children; the pride and joy of his life! David was a diligent and dedicated hard worker with a tenacious work ethic. His investment in his job was truly admired and respected by all. He knew the importance of modeling leadership not only to his team members, but to his children as well. He worked for The City Of Columbus, Division of Electricity, where he eventually retired after almost 30 years.
David was a loyal and faithful friend whom everyone could count on. To be in his presence was a true gift. He enjoyed teaching his kids and grand-kids the proper way to do things (his way!). He enjoyed fishing and carpentry. He was an avid squirrel hunter, loved camping with friends and shooting the shit with anyone that would listen. Everyone knew my dad loved his garden. He loved providing food for his family and friends. He took great pride in his vegetables! The garden was his sanctuary, he loved planting it, tending to it, and watching it grow. Oh, and there was always the bragging rights for growing the best sweetcorn God ever created!
We will always love and miss you Daddy.
His family will receive friends on Thursday, June 12, from 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at Cotner Funeral Home, 7369 East Main Street, Reynoldsburg with his funeral service will be held on Friday, June 13 starting at 11:00 a.m. Graveside service to follow at Pataskala Cemetery.

Well there are so many memories, Dave was a great friend and a great coworker at the City of Columbus. I ended up on Dave´s crew at the City of Columbus. Secretly I think there may have been some bets on how long that would last since we were both a little bullheaded. We made it work and we became very good friends.I will miss Dave as will many for the rest of our time on this earth. Rest in peace dear friend. Frank J Fahner
